The Area - Languedoc and the Aude

With approaching 300 days of sunshine a year, impeccable food and wine and the laid-back Mediterranean lifestyle - the Languedoc is a favourite destination for Northern Europeans.

The area is full of superlatives, World Heritage Sites and combines a slow pace of life with a wealth of places to see and things to do.

Carcassonne is the second most visited destination in France, after Paris. It's dream-like turrets have made it a favourite with Hollywood for many major films.

The Canal du Midi, the famous green ribbon winds its way through the Aude, the rolling hills, giving way to mountains. Summer beaches, winter skiing. Festivals, markets, concerts and fireworks.

Food is always taken seriously. Long lunches. Fresh fish. Cassoulet, fresh bread and always... wine.

The area is so beautiful, we host photographic holidays and tours from here.   The 2011 schedule and further information is online at Escape2France.com

Take the time to visit and explore.  Photographic Holidays are a great way to really learn how to take excellent photographs in a stunningly beautiful location with fabulous natural beauty -  gorges, mountains, clean, clean rivers of Pyrennean melt and oh, the wildlife!  Stunning.
